Monday - Ricki

It's almost impossible to tell that you exist in an airplane. You're above the clouds, looking down because that's where you came from and you're (at least in my case this morning) begging for the moment that you reach the ground once more. Then, though, then you look up, and it's clear. Just clear blue, lined with red, because this morning we woke up horribly early, and watched the sunrise from the sky. The feeling is overwhelming, at first, and it gets stronger. You're sitting in a metal tube, looking up at what people are just barely starting to understand, something that you may never quite understand yourself.

It's a great big space, blank and ready for ideas and thoughts, and solutions to problems that may not even exist yet.

Sitting on the porch in Electric Peak Cabin is much the same. It's overwhelming, and older than you, and most importantly, it's a space.

Even if it's not the same as the big, black stretch around the world, it still has that opportunity, that need, for ideas, thoughts, and solutions to problems that may not even exist yet.

  1. Wow Ricki! Yeah, you're awesome! You kids got not one, but... TWO FULL PAGES in the Enquire. You're all famous now so I will be asking for your autographs when you get back home. Miss you and love you. Take care and don't forget to mind your manners.
    Love, Mom
