We had to wait about an hour for Old Faithful to erupt, so
we just decided to chill and eat lunch. So shortly after we all used the
bathroom and took a look inside the gift shop, we headed back to our seats, and
waited for about 10 minutes. It kept trolling us a couple times, it kept making
us think it was going to erupt just by spouting a little water out, but after
that it finally erupted, and I had my cameras ready. I took pictures on one,
and then I recorded on my phone, so I when I go home I can show everyone at
home that’s not really doing anything with their lives. It felt like a special
privilege to me because not everyone gets to do something so amazing up close.
I was actually more excited to see the Grand Prismatic
because I googled Yellowstone, and that was one of the many pictures that
popped up. At first I didn’t think it was real, I thought it was Photoshopped, because
it was so beautiful. I was really interested in the colors. So the hike to get to
the view was kind of pleasant, (on account of it being hot) until we made a
sudden turn from the trail, and we started walking (or climbing I should say)
this really steep hill. It wasn’t very pleasant for me since I’m really afraid
of heights, but it was worth it because when we got about half way up the hill,
we turn around and we see the Grand Prismatic across the way. It was just as
beautiful as it was on Google, maybe even prettier because I got to see it in real
life instead of on a computer screen. Later on when we got back to the cabin,
we saw a picture of what it would’ve looked like if we were standing on the
boardwalk right in front of it, and all you could see in the steam, literally.
So it was really worth walking up that steep hill, because I wouldn’t have seen
the whole thing.
It may be hard to believe, but some of the best things in life take a long wait to happen! Some of the things will take more work than just sitting 10 minutes on a bench!
