Cincinnati CATC - Tacora - Day 4
Today we hiked Bunsen peak it was amazing and hard. I was so
tired I thought I was going to die. Lucky for me I had amazing people to help
me and check on me to see if I was ok. If it wasn’t for them pushing me and me
pushing myself. What I really learned was teamwork is always available and if
you need to take a break to breathe just yell peaches. I was a little mad about
the hills but when I got to the top I was great. And last but not least I want
to give a special thanks to all the adults for making this happen for me and
everyone else it was really great to be here.
Cincinnati CATC - Lauren - Day 4
So we hiked Bunsen peak today. It was amazing. I’m so tired
it isn’t even funny. We also went on a short hike behind the cabin were staying
in and Billy goateed up a pebble/dirt hill just so we could surf down it. So
fun! Great, great day.

Cincinnati CATC - Ricki - Day 4
Today, we climbed the mountain. It was beautiful at the top,
but it wasn’t just the sight. It was the feeling. It felt beautiful to stand
there on top of this gigantic rock that formed on the Earth several centuries, probably, ago. It’s the sort of feeling you get
only when you’ve accomplished something. When we got to the top, Michelle (one
of our mentors on the trip) gave us these cool medals. It had Bunsen etched on
it, as well as some facts, as well as other things. The medals are really
awesome, and I feel a hundred percent that we earned them. However, I don’t
think that was really what the hike was about.
The real prizes we earned were the feeling of being on a mountain,
and feeling so accomplished. Knowing that you got here, and not alone, but with
the help of an amazing group, who, in time, became your family.
The sense that you’re on this mountain, with people you care
about, staring down at your hard work… it’s the best feeling in the world. It’s
good for your physical and mental health. It makes me think ‘Hey, even if I
didn’t get the best score on that
math test, I still climbed a mountain’. Of course, passing that math test comes
next. I think I can do anything, really, if I set my mind on it.
It’s going to be horrible to leave my new family and home
tomorrow, but hopefully we’ll all keep in contact. I know I’m definitely
returning to CATC this coming school year, and I can’t wait.
Before I go though, I’d just like to say a big thank you to
everyone that got me to the top of that mountain. Thank you to the trip
sponsors. Thank you to the heads of CATC. Thank you to all the mentors. Thank
you to Jess, our YA guide. Thank you to my fellow Brave Adventurous Thunderbeasts.
Thank you to the people reading this right now. Thank you to everyone, really,
who became a part of my personal Yellowstone Experience, whether here or not.
Thank you. Because yeah, I climbed a mountain, but I couldn’t do it without
you.
Cincinnati CATC - Devon (Brockway Ambassador) - Day 4
Sorry about not blogging yesterday I had a really long day.
So to start out I will talk about yesterday. We climbed to Trout Lake and
saw the amazing view. We had a really good debate. The debate was about whether
or not bison should be able to roam freely in Paradise Valley. So we had
different groups, the groups were ranchers, consumers, and environmentalists.
Everyone said what they wanted to say then we just kept debating our
positions. I think it went
really well.
Today, we had a really big hill to climb today. We all climbed Bunsen’s Peak, I think we all did really well and I'm glad that everyone made it up the hill without and injuries and they made it up with their team weight. It was nice whenever we go back because everyone got to go to their cabin and take a nap. Today Michelle made a really delicious dinner tonight, it was bison chili.

Cincinnati CATC - Josh - Day 4
Today was a very great day; we got to climb Bunsen Peak
which was very fun. I think that everyone did a great job at hiking up this
really big hill. I really loved the view from the top it’s like I can see
everything from up there. I have really enjoyed my time here at Yellowstone
National Park. I will most definitely think of a way to get back here in the
future. Although I’m pretty sad that I didn’t see a bear; that will just give
me a reason to come back another time.
I believe that the Bunsen Peak hike was the best thing I did in these six days and it is getting me prepared for my football season coming up very soon. I will always cherish this moment for the rest of my life.
On my behalf I just want to thank everyone that made this incredible experience possible, and I just can’t thank you enough. Many thanks and I love you guys so much.
